On the Road in Pennsylvania again
This trip was 10 August 2008 and took
us to the McKenzie Brew House, www.mckenziebrewhouse.com.
We were on the way back from taking
a tour of the QVC Studios in West Chester and needed to stop for some
lunch. What a better place than a local brew pub.
I had the premium sampler which contained
five regular and four seasonal beer samples.
McKenzie light lager - crisp, clean,
light & full of flavor.
Shane's Gold - very much like Pilsner
Urquell which is one of my favorite brews.
Wicked Will's Pale Ale - well balanced
Unicorn Amber Ale - good balanced amber
ale. Semi sweet malty taste with flavors of roast & chocolate barley.
Black Lab Stout - light bodied stout
with plenty of flavor. Hints of chocolate, coffee, & licorice.
Hefeweizen - German style with banana
& clove esters. 4.6%/IBUs 12
Old Blarney Pub Ale - English style
bitter. Slight bitter finish. 4.6%/IBUs 30
Saison Vautour - light amber. Lighter
esters than the weizen. Bitter finish. 2007 GABF Gold Medalist. ABV
7%/IBUs 35
Houblan Brune - amber color. Stronger
brew. Malty at first. Slight bitter finish. ABV 6.6%/ IBUs 55
For appetizers we had some great wings.
They were a blend of sweet and spicy and came with a great big side
of blue cheese.
Terri had the Spicy Mexican Omelet which
was spicy and quite tasty. I had the burger with pub fries, also
very tasty.
Our server, Terri, provided us with
great service. This was certainly a place worth visiting!
