On this trip, Terri and I went to the
Iron Hill Brewery in Newark, DE - http://www.ironhillbrewery.com/newark/.
I ordered the beer sampler and what a
sample it was. Ten beers!
Iron Hill Light Lager - Great light
beer that was not light on flavor!
Vienna Red Lager - Clean crisp red
lager that uses Saaz hops
Ironbound Ale - A hop infused favorite.
Pig Iron Porter - Good balance on this
beer. Noticeable chocolate taste.
House Belgian Ale - Very true to style
of a Belgian Double
Raspberry Wheat - Light and refreshing.
Good summer beer
For the seasonal beers I had the following:
Belgian Trippel - another very true
to style Belgian Beer
Cask conditioned ironbound ale - This
was a little hoppier than the standard Ironbound Ale.
Dunkel weizen - true German style wheat
with banana and clove esters.
Belgian wit - another true to style
beer that had great flavor and a great finish.
For an appetizer we had the Caribbean
Garlic Shrimp Skewers which were excellent. For dinner, Terri
had the traditional pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil.
I had the hickory barbeque burger with sweet potato fries. The
food was excellent.
We had the best service that I have had
in a long time at this restaurant. I even had to tell the manager
how great our server did. This is a place that I would definitely
go back to.
